Jamie Heywood
Jamie is an MIT trained mechanical engineer who entered biomedicine after his brother was diagnosed with ALS in 1999. Jamie has founded/co-founded 5 companies including PatientsLikeMe, ALS Therapy Development Institute, AOBiome, The SocialMedwork, and Genetic Networks.
Jamie was appointed to the National Biosurveillance Advisory Subcommittee (NBAS) under Presidents Bush and Obama and was a long term member of the National Academy of Medicine’s Roundtable on Value & Science-Driven Health Care.
His work has been profiled in the New Yorker, 60 Minutes, TEDMED, Pulitzer Prize winner Jonathan Wiener’s book, His Brothers Keeper, and in the Sundance award winning documentary So Much So Fast.
